Cineplex and CJ 4DPLEX Open New ScreenX Auditoriums TODAY in Montreal and Brampton

Cineplex, a leading entertainment and media company, in partnership with CJ 4DPLEX, the world’s leading producer of premium film formats and cinema technologies, announced today that its two newest ScreenX auditoriums are now open in Montreal, Quebec and Brampton, Ontario. This brings the current total to 17 ScreenX locations in theatres across Canada. The immersive, panoramic experience at Scotiabank Theatre Montreal and SilverCity Brampton Cinemas debuts today with the highly anticipated Wonka just in time for the holiday season. At Scotiabank Theatre Montreal, ScreenX is combined with UltraAVX, the company’s premium theatre experience that delivers the most powerful picture quality with stunningly crisp, lifelike detail.

ScreenX is the world’s first multi-projection theatre technology that allows a 270-degree panoramic movie watching experience. ScreenX uses a proprietary system to expand specially selected sequences of the film onto the left and right-side walls of the auditorium, surrounding the audience with imagery as though they were inside the movie. This provides a virtual reality-like setting with cinema quality resolution, creating a truly immersive experience for moviegoers.

Cineplex and CJ 4DPLEX first partnered in 2016 to launch Canada’s first 4DX auditorium at Cineplex Cinemas Yonge-Dundas and VIP in Toronto, Ontario. In 2018, Canada’s first ScreenX auditorium opened at Cineplex Cinemas Queensway and VIP in Toronto, Ontario, and Quebec’s first ScreenX auditorium opened in 2021 at Cineplex Odeon Cinemas Brossard and VIP. Since then, the partnership has been extended to bring 4DX auditoriums to seven locations and ScreenX screens to 17 locations across the country including the two newest in Montreal and Brampton.
