“Boys in Exile” follows Elliot Streett, a grandfather who is protective of his grandson. He recognizes the familiar cruelty and injury visited on his grandson by schoolyard bullies, and he does the only thing he can to protect the boy: telling his own tragic tale.

He recollects his younger days as Elliot “Squeaker” Streett. He was one of the ten pre-adolescent boys housed together for eight weeks in Timber Wolf cabin at Camp Hemlock to “make new friends and learn life-long social skills.” He was physically weak and slight in stature. He brings to camp his fear of bullies and lack of confidence to protect himself from harm.

His efforts to win the approval of the toughest boy in Wolf Cabin only result in humiliation and betrayal until the erosion of his moral compass contributes to a tragedy for the one boy whose friendship and strength he had come to admire.
