Renee’ Servello’s Hilarious One-Liners About Senior Life Soon to Be Exhibited at the L.A. Times’ Festival of Books 2023

Every year, the L.A. Times’ Festival of Books, which will be held on April 22-23, 2023, at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, celebrates new publications from across genres. These include works both light and heavy by authors young and old. But for Renee’ Servello, author of “You’re Kidding… I’m A Senior?,” the topic of getting old has a lot to laugh about, as shown in the book she’ll be exhibiting at the festival.

Like many people her age, Renee’ knows joint pains, graying hair, and other little annoyances that many people face past their 60^th birthday. That’s why her book, You’re Kidding…. I’m a Senior!?, gives a comical spin on the whole thing.

From the struggles of getting up in the morning to a less glamorous reaction to caffeine, Servello gives honest and highly relatable takes with witty one-liners. Many of her jokes also touch on a lot of the burdens shared by many senior citizens, as well as how they are treated in today’s society. Other pages include quips about her experience as the matriarch of a very large extended family (and all the antics that come with one).

She doesn’t write from a completely sugary perspective either, as her humor carries a southern frankness about the loss of youth, energy, and all-too-real struggles of people reaching seniority. Furthermore, she does not whitewash the irony of senior life only guaranteeing age, but not the wisdom often advertised with the package. Mixed in with all her jokes is sound advice to members of her own generation while also encouraging younger readers to treat them well.
