La Skyrail Express Welcomes Keolis to Sepulveda Transit Corridor Team

Los Angeles SkyRail Express (LASRE) is pleased to announce its partnership with Keolis in North America. Globally, Keolis operates and maintains a broad range of best-in-class transportation networks across 13 countries including North America with 68,000 employees. Keolis offers innovative and sustainable shared mobility solutions for public modes including trains, buses and coaches, on demand transport, automated metro and tramway systems, and more.

“LASRE has strengthened its team with the addition of Keolis, a global leader in the shared mobility market with over a century long track record of enhancing the experience of transit passengers,” shared Michael Hoghooghi, LASRE CEO and Consortium Director. “Our aspirations for passenger delight and sustainability, align perfectly well between that of LASRE and Keolis.”

Gerald Francis, President Keolis Commuter Service said, “We are very honored to form this partnership with LASRE. We look forward to working closely with other prestigious and experienced transit professionals such as John Laing, BYD, Skanska, HDR, Innova, and Gensler to further enhance the regions transit option between the San Fernando Valley and the Westside.”

LASRE was the highest technically ranked team that was awarded a Predevelopment (PDA) by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (Metro) for the Sepulveda Transit Corridor (STC) Project.

Under the PDA, LASRE is working collaboratively with Metro to provide the most modern high-capacity SkyRail solution to ease congestion on the I-405 (Sepulveda) corridor between Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley to the Westside in the shortest timeframe possible; providing a long-term sustainable solution which seamlessly integrates with the existing transit networks in this densely populated region.

SkyRail would be configured for a potential peak line capacity of up to 22,000 passengers per hour per direction (pphpd), with a 2-minute headway. Recognizing the importance of connectivity to UCLA, the SkyRail Alternatives are developed with inputs considered from all stakeholders to facilitate connectivity and serve this important destination. Given the design flexibilities of SkyRail, LASRE aims to deliver this project with the fastest construction time possible, compared to any other traditional rail technologies.

SkyRail is an advanced, driverless, straddle-type transit system, representing state-of-the-art technology that has evolved over nearly 60 years. SkyRail is geared to deliver a high-capacity, sustainable, urban rapid transit solution that can be quickly built. SkyRail is a technology family that has become the new system of choice in several of the world’s largest modern cities, including Săo Paulo, Bangkok, Cairo, Tokyo and Chongqing.
