Third WTA title for Tatjana Maria – the Porsche Team Germany player won the WTA 250 tournament in Bogota and duly repeated her success last year in Columbia’s capital. She beat the American Peyton Stearns 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 in Easter Sunday’s final.

For Tatjana Maria, the second win at the “Copa Colsanitas” clay court tournament was her third career WTA Tour title and a successful dress rehearsal for her appearance in Stuttgart. The 35-year-old mother of two, who lives with her family in West Palm Beach in Florida, is due to turn out in the Porsche Arena for Porsche Team Germany in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers on Friday and Saturday. Next week, she will be contesting the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix for the first time since 2012.

The win in the final was the No. 2 seeded title holder’s 12th win in succession at the tournament in Bogota. Against the 14-years younger Peyton Stearns, a WTA final first timer, she clinched victory in a hard-fought three-set match lasting just over two hours.

“Winning this tournament for a second time means a lot to me. It was a hard match and I had to play my best tennis,” said Tatjana Maria after the final. “Now I’m looking forward to Stuttgart and to finally be back playing in Germany after such a long time”

Born and raised in Bad Saulgau, Tatjana Maria won her first WTA title in Mallorca in 2018. In 2022 after giving birth to her second child, she celebrated a sensational comeback and the biggest achievement of career by reaching the Wimbledon semifinals. At the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, where the world’s top players will be playing from 15 to 23 April, she is assured of a main draw berth after being given a wild card.
