“Bootstrap” is an inspirational self-help memoir that shares the author’s journey as a soldier before and throughout the Vietnam war era. The goal of this book is to encourage veterans and make them realize that life is still worth living for.

Ducre firmly believes in a family- or community team-based support system for surviving difficult times. He also had specific awareness of the trials and tribulations that military officers and the enlisted experienced in combat. While he was lucky enough not directly to experience the dire effects of PTSD and suicidal thoughts, his experience with his fellow soldiers made him keenly aware of how this affected so many with whom he served. That is why he dedicated the last five years to creating a self-self-help process based on real experiences and a planned-life approach to living a long life.

The author wrote “Bootstrap” to help veterans who have been mentally and physically scarred by the horrors of war. He expresses his own approach to stopping people, especially veterans, from committing suicide. Ducre states: “My book would be a success if I can convince just one person that living is a better option.”
