About the Author

Poetry from the heart of a hurt child through the eyes of an adult. Somebody asked author Candy Cole why did she or why does she write? In her prologue she explained what she saw and tried to imitate because she just had to do something to make herself feel better about what she actually thought about her living circumstances and life.

In childhood and in most of her life she had scars and secretes, conflicts in her relationships. She had to find a way to let her true self come out without being knocked out all the time, so while people in the house or school played or just slept had her dreams and fantasies and desires and she just wanted to speak up and out. She use to want to be a DJ cause she loved music loved to see people dance and sing on the Ed Sullivan show, but she never got the opportunity because of her real life responsibilities. She felt hurt and had too many secretes and not enough positive support.

So, “Chocolate Covered Candy” was a band aid to stop her from bleeding when she felt she was pouring out blood. Stopped her from being a dope fiend too she guessed. It was a life saver and companionship when she felt ostracized and nasty and alone. It was footsteps in the sand for her to see when she was not feeling like walking in this life no more.

For the reader, she just hopes it is good and entertaining for their read not everybody knows embarrassment, poverty, molestation and childhood depression. Some people don’t even know about living single with children and addictions that come. They won’t learn it all through her words but they can become more understanding to that life after experiencing the thoughts of one of its participants. She prays.
