Christian author Debbie Cole’s Guide to God (and Sheepdogs) will be displayed at the London Book Fair 2023

Exhibits at the London Book Fair will include publishers and authors expressing a wide range of beliefs, including religious ones. For Christian Debbie Cole, author of the book Made for a Purpose: Lessons From My Sheepdogs, it is a wonderful opportunity to share personal stories of their faith from their humble experience.

That is essentially the theme of her book Made for a Purpose: Lessons From My Sheepdogs. In it, Cole goes in-depth about her work as a professional shepherd and her relationships with her three dogs, Tux, Junebug, and Rascal. But more than that, she writes about how God was speaking to her through her experience of training them. The different ways her dogs behaved while training and the different purposes they had, mirrored people’s relationships with God.

The book is very open with its Christian message, yet Cole has also filled it with plenty of fun facts about sheepdog training. She goes into great detail about her dogs’ different breeds and their history. Plenty of the chapters even contain informative outlines on sheep dog competitions, as well as the techniques that her dogs have used to herd sheep.

All the while, she inserts many nuggets of Christian wisdom that she learned during the challenges as a handler. Cole writes plenty about each dog’s personality quirks, and how they reflect the different ways Christians have responded to Jesus’ message. In their time together, Cole learned that each dog had been born for a purpose, just as every person was born with a purpose given by God.

Debbie Cole draws from her experience as a shepherd, sheep owner, dog handler, and devoted Christian to shed light on how our relationship with Jesus parallels His love for the sheep of this world. She has valuable experience in tending sheep and competing in sheep dog trials and thus possesses deep insight into their nature and tendencies. She is a skilled sign language interpreter and has presented many classes and lectures on this relationship to both Deaf and Hearing audiences. For many years she has spread the love she received from Christ with her husband, two daughters, twelve grandchildren and all who know her. She is also the author of I Am A Sheep?!?! released in 2020.
