An essential donation campaign to meet increasing demand

Given Giving growing needs and an increase in the number of the charity’s beneficiaries, the Restos du Cœur’s nationwide donation campaign offers vital support for the work that it does on a daily basis – more than ever during this period of high inflation. To help tackle demand, Carrefour is once again supporting this major inclusive aid initiative: it will be hosting a donation campaign in its stores, getting its employees involved and raising customers’ awareness of the need to help.

To support the fundraising campaign, customers wishing to do so are encouraged to donate non-perishable essential items (grocery products, hygiene products, tinned products, baby food, nappies, baby’s milk, etc.) directly via any one of the 1500 participating Carrefour stores. And throughout the first weekend in March, Carrefour Location will be providing Restos du Coeur outlets with utility vehicles, helping the charity with its logistics operations. Employees across the Group will also be working as volunteers, supporting the charity’s branches over the three-day period. Thanks to the campaign’s efforts, 1700 tonnes of products were donated in 2022.

For the 16th year, Carrefour is partnering the Restos du Coeur alongside Danone. Both companies will once again be showing their support, donating one meal to the charity for every two Danone Group brand products purchased*. Thanks to this offer, a million meals will be given out to beneficiaries welcomed by the Restos du Coeur.

As it does every year, Carrefour is donating €250,000 worth of products, as well as making a financial donation of €250,000. This is intended to support what the charity is doing to tackle food poverty.

The Carrefour Foundation – partnering the Restos du Coeur every day

Carrefour wants everybody to be able to enjoy healthy and balanced products and is committed to an initiative to increase the quality of the donations made. For three years, the Foundation has been supporting the charity with its transformation of the food support model (selecting the products which get distributed so as to place the emphasis on organic and local produce, responsible sourcing, etc.). This year, it will be giving volunteers special help with products for young children. There will be a wider choice of baby food available for children aged 0-36 months, and cooking workshops will be held to encourage the beneficiaries to eat a more balanced diet. Furthermore, the first ever Restos du Coeur book of recipes will be published to step up the drive to raise awareness and support the people welcomed by the charity.

* Simultaneous purchase of two Danone Group brand products from among a selection of products in-store (see practical details in the stores). Campaign separate from the Restos du Cœur’s nationwide donation campaign.
