#ICYMI: Epic February 2023 Experiences #withAmex

From sports fans to travel enthusiasts to members of the art and LGBTQIA+ communities, February #withAmex marked a series of global celebrations that helped American Express Card Members put their passions first.

Basketball fans across the U.S. enjoyed the crowd-roaring excitement of NBA All-Star 2023 while Card Members interested in the arts discovered profound works of art at Mexico City’s ZⓈONAMACO (Zona Maco) art fair and Japan’s Bunkamura Museum of Art. Amex showed up at Australia’s global celebration of Sydney WorldPride alongside the global LGBTQIA+ community, all while Card Members traveling out of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) were the first to experience the new Centurion® Lounge.

Utah: NBA All-Star 2023

American Express celebrated NBA All-Star 2023 in a big way. Throughout the three-day event in Salt Lake City, Utah, basketball fans and Card Members enjoyed various experiences as part of Amex’s Outside the Court activation, including a speakeasy-style “Dirty Soda Shoppe” Card Member lounge, an outdoor block party, customizable merchandise, and meet & greets with NBA Players and Legends. Additionally, Card Members who visited Vivint Arena for the NBA events received access to benefits including two dedicated Card Member entrances and an American Express’ contactless shop for a more seamless experience.

Australia: Sydney WorldPride 2023

This year’s Sydney WorldPride 2023 was an epic celebration among the global LGBTQIA+ community including the Live and Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert and the 45^th anniversary of the world-renowned Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade. As principal partner, Amex also curated 15 itineraries with special access to dining and entertainment – and a front-row seat to the parade -to  recipients and their nominators of the With You &Proud community initiative.

Mexico City: 2023 ZⓈONAMACO (Zona Maco) Art Fair

Considered one of Latin America’s major art fairs, ZⓈONAMACO (Zona Maco) brings together Mexico City’s passionate art community to experience unique works from hundreds of artists. We teamed up with Mexican artist Julia Carrillo to design an exclusive and immersive installation titled "Act of Sight.” The installation features two cubic lenses floating in space and as a drop of water falls on them, projections of the regular drop fall are generated in real time. Using the language and tools of mathematics and science to connected to an abstract world, Carrillo transformed the small transit into a space where gravity, water, optics, and light became an extraordinary moment.

Washington: Centurion® Lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

American Express opened a new 14,000-square-foot Centurion Lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). The new lounge is nearly triple the size of the original Centurion Lounge at SEA and is located in the mezzanine level of the Central Terminal post-security. Eligible Card Members traveling can enjoy a locally inspired menu of “Seattle Soul” cuisine from new Executive Chef Kristi Brown, along with specialty coffee and espresso drinks from the full-service coffee bar “Blue Roast by American Express” while taking in scenic views of the airfield and Olympic Mountains.

Japan: Early Viewing of Works by Marie Laurencin at The Bunkamura Museum of Art

As part of Tokyo’s diverse cultural scene, The Bunkamura Museum of Art’s latest exhibition features French painter and printmaker, Marie Laurencin, recognized as an important figure in the Parisian avant-garde scene and noted for her contributions to the Cubist movement. To celebrate the exhibition opening, Amex offered Japan Card Members exclusive access to an early-morning viewing of the collection.
