Set against the backdrop of the hills and the lives revolving around Appalachia, the Southern biography shares an account surrounding the death of coal miner Ernest Creech during a union picket strike in 1965 in Leatherwood, Kentucky. The book also tells how his death impacted the community and the lives of his family.
“No Tears For Ernest Creech” is Loretta Creech’s first published book. In the book, Loretta not only remembers her father but also recognizes her mother’s efforts in raising all ten children by herself after the death of her husband.

Author Loretta Creech was born in Hazard, in eastern Kentucky. Leaving Eastern Kentucky University in 1972, the author now lives in Lexington, Kentucky, where she met and married her husband. Loretta has two sons from her marriage. Her mother, Gladys, died in 2011.
