Scout Ventures Strengthens Investment Team With Hiring of Jacqueline Blackburn

Scout Ventures welcomes Jacqueline Blackburn as its newest Associate and member of the Investment Team as the firm continues to focus on investing in dual-use technologies built by hard-to-access founders, primarily veterans

New York City, New York – WEBWIRE

Scout Ventures, a venture capital firm focusing on funding frontier and dual-use technologies built by hard-to-access founders, today announces the addition of Jacqueline Blackburn. Ms. Blackburn will join the investment team and help source, oversee diligence, and execute deals, as well as support current portfolio companies in their growth.

“I’ve long admired the way Scout Ventures supports veteran founders and helps bring to life innovative dual-use technologies. This next step brings together my service background and professional experience in a way that serves a greater purpose,” said Jacqueline Blackburn, Scout Ventures Associate, “My focus will be on investing in founders that are bridging the gaps between web3 and defense. I’m excited to see where Scout and our portfolio companies will go in the coming years.”

Before joining Scout Ventures as an Associate, Blackburn spent two years at JP Morgan (JPM), where she supported the launch of its first team focused on Venture Debt, a portfolio that now holds 200+ companies with over $2B in booked commitments. She went on to become JPM’s first hire for the company’s Early Stage Tech Banking team within the Commercial Bank in NYC.

In addition, Jacqueline led a major project initiative across two lines of business that would allow co-investment exposure and drive efficiency and mobility from a loan book management perspective. While there, she directly supported 12 Pre-Series A founders, maintained strong relationships within the VC ecosystem, and continued growing relationships with Emerging Managers for the firm’s Military Veterans in VC initiative.

After graduating from the Naval Academy in 2013, she spent 6+ years of service leading forward-deployed teams as one of the few women in the US Naval Explosive Ordnance community stationed in Virginia Beach. She continuously trained and built small unit teams for “no fail” missions that required coordination with federal agencies, foreign dignitaries, and local authors to conduct global operations out of the Middle East and Africa.

“Having Jacqueline join our team is an incredible step toward our mission of leading the industry in creating a better, safer world through investing in hard-to-access founders and their technologies,” said Brad Harrison, Founder and Managing Partner of Scout Ventures. “Her experience uniquely prepares her to elevate Scout as a leader in the industry as we continue to grow. ”
