WEBWIRE

A+E Networks CEE, part of A+E Networks EMEA, will premiere The Mystery Of Dacian Gold, the first local commission on HISTORY Channel® in Romania, following the company’s strategy to bring more premium local content to the region

The first local commission for HISTORY Channel® in Romania, entitled The Mystery of Dacian Gold, will air on the 31st of October 2022, following the HISTORY Channel Poland premiere of a new documentary series, The Hunt for Silesian Treasure. Both shows focus on local history and talent.

Izabella Wiley, SVP, General Manager A+E Networks CEE, said: History can be a fascinating topic, especially when it is history of local people and events. Romanian history is full of courage and mystery. There are so many stories to tell about the past of Romania and how some of those past events still play a role in the present. We begin our Romanian history-telling by exploring The Mystery of Dacian Gold. This is the first docu-series commissioned by the HISTORY Channel in Romania, and it delivers straight out of the gate. In the Mystery of Dacian Gold, viewers will hear thrilling stories, find out about unexplained deaths, see beautiful scenery, and learn about the ancient history of the country and the region.

The Mystery of Dacian Gold is a hybrid docu-reality program with dazzling scenery, recreations, and magical stories, hosted by actor Paul Ipate and globetrotter Simina Cernat. The show was created and produced by John Florescu; the producers from HISTORY Channel are Agnieszka Kubiak and Bartłomiej Major. The first episode will air on Monday, October 31st at 21:00 EET. Starting in Ancient Rome and winding up to peaks and riverbeds around Sarmizegetusa, Romania’s Stonehenge, the pair of explorers meet with gold prospectors and local experts who immersed themselves in the mysteries of the largest gold deposits in Europe, located in Romania. Viewers will see Paul and Simina in grottos, rivers, deep forests, abandoned mines - and high above the sky, guided by infra-red technology.

In 14 years on the market, The HISTORY Channel has brought to the Romanian audience all-original programming, including documentary films following the life of Romania’s Queen Marie and King Michael that met with excellent audience feedback, as well as a roster of signature premium series including Vikings, The Curse of Oak Island, Forged in Fire, Pawn Stars, and American Pickers. The channel continues to deliver feature-length event series and riveting factual programming such as the upcoming mega-doc series The Colosseum and audience favorites The UnXplained with William Shatner, Great Escapes with Morgan Freeman, and History’s Greatest Mysteries with Laurence Fishburne.

Heather Jones, Chief Creative Officer EMEA, and General Manager UK: [i"[/i]At A+E Networks EMEA, we’re consistently exploring new ways of delving into the heart and soul of history. Our focus is to commission series with regional narratives and talent. This is just the beginning of our journey into creating even more authentic and original content for the HISTORY Channel in Romania.”

The Romanian premiere follows the premiere of the Polish HISTORY Channel® new series The Hunt For Silesian Treasure, hosted Łukasz Kazek, journalist and history expert, and co-creator of the popular Polish YouTube Channel History Hiking. The series was produced by Vision House Productions. Łukasz Kazek takes viewers on a journey into the depths of myths and legends about the gold of the Third Reich hidden in Lower Silesia, one of the most mysterious regions of Poland. He will meet with other history aficionados and experts to explore the history /and legends of the region. The Hunt for Silesian Treasure is the fourth local commission for HISTORY Channel® Poland, following Pick N Bid, Raiders Of The Lost Truth, and The Hunt For Baltic Gold, which has provided excellent ratings and brand builders for the station in the past.
