McLaren at the New York Library Association 2022 Annual Conference and Trade Show on November 3 – 4, 2022, at the Saratoga Springs City Center at 522 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, and the ReadersMagnet Book Confab on October 28 – 30, 2022, at 72 Warren St., Tribeca, New York.
“The Sounds at River’s Edge” talks about a world where adventure was as close as the next thought, back before the introduction of fast food, microwave ovens, and home videos. When it came to having fun, it wasn’t so much about where people went or how much they spent as it was about the activities themselves.
For most kids, going outside to play was the usual, and being forced to “stay in the house” was a severe punishment. When kids were grounded, they usually couldn’t watch TV or talk on the phone.
The heart of this book’s stories is a father’s love and his son’s vivid imagination. In a time when the world seemed to move more slowly, history was made every day like never before through triumphs, tragedies, tears, and laughter. This book lets readers see the world from a child’s perspective.
