The Electronic House Expo Spring 2007 concluded Saturday, March 10, drawing thousands of industry professionals to the largest display of custom electronics products in show history. EHX Spring 2007, produced by EH Events and sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA®) TechHome Division, is one of the fastest growing tradeshows in the U.S. The show ran March 6-10 at the Orange County Convention Center.

ESPN and ABC sports commentator, Dick Vitale, kicked off the event with an inspiring and energetic keynote, “Winning in the Game of Life.” He instructed exhibitors and attendees to be “passionate about their craft,” and to live in the moment, work hard, and have dedication and discipline to achieve personal and professional goals. He discussed his personal experiences with home electronics and playfully concluded that “Man, you guys are expensive, BABY!”

The EHX Spring 2007 show featured 315 companies introducing exciting new products in the custom electronics market, including the latest in home networking, home theater and video, multi-room audio, IP networking, lighting control, home automation and wireless networking. The major focus of this year’s event was home networking technology, including wireless with central controls.

With a commitment to attendee education and training, the EHX conference program launched Tuesday, March 6 with two full day boot camp sessions. Project Management focused on the importance of defining project management phases and executing with mastery; with a specific focus on handling budgets and purchasing. Home Networking provided information on the design, installation and configuration of home networks, including both wired and wireless considerations.

CEA researchers Steve Koenig and Shawn DeBruvac started the Friday event line up with the EHX Wake-Up Call Breakfast where they presented CEA’s newest State of Builder Technology research. Their presentation included round-table discussions with custom installers and addressed the topics of how to maintain profitability, take advantage of growth trends, encourage home builders to leverage their expertise, educate custom installers on differentiating themselves, and inspire home builders to market technology features effectively.

The conference schedule ran through Saturday and featured eight boot camps and more than 60 conference sessions, designed to educate attendees on the latest trends and cutting-edge technologies in the connected home industry.

EHX offered daily networking opportunities, and after hour events. The EHX After Hours Party on March 8 set the scene for networking among industry professionals, and CE PRO Late Night, March 9, featured Bruce Hornsby in an exclusive concert. The annual Mark of Excellence Awards banquet, honoring industry leaders in the connected home market, was Friday, March 9 at the Rosen Centre Hotel.

EHX will bring its must-see lineup of home custom electronics to Long Beach for EHX Fall 2007, which runs from November 6-9. EHX returns to Orlando for EHX Spring 2008 next year from March 11-15.
