Dr. Kester J Nedd Shares a Thing or Two About Concussion, a Silent Epidemic, in His Book

What should people know about concussion, the silent epidemic that is affecting over 50 million people each year? And what could they do about TBI? Neurologist Dr. Kester Nedd talks all about it in his book “Concussion: Traumatic Brain Injury from Head to Tail” (Archway Publishing; 2020).
 
A concussion is a type of mild traumatic brain injury, which is caused by a blow to the head and disrupts normal brain function. This type of TBI can affect memory, judgment, speech, reflexes, balance and muscle coordination. It is a condition that is often not properly diagnosed or treated. Dr. Nedd aims to address this matter in his book.

Dr. Nedd is a Board-Certified Neurologist, with subspecialty training in Neurological Rehabilitation and Neuro-trauma. Completed his medical training at the Kansas City University of Bioscience and Medicine. He received his postgraduate Neurology and Neurological Rehabilitation training at the University of Miami - Jackson Memorial Health System.
 
He currently serves as the Managing Partner of Design Neuroscience Center, a comprehensive brain injury center involved in the evaluation and treatment of individuals with traumatic brain injury and other neurological disorders. For 25 years, Dr. Nedd served as the Medical Director of Neurological Rehabilitation and Medical Neuro-trauma at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. He was also an Associate Professor of Neurology and served as Medical Director of the Sports Concussion Program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine until May of 2020.
