“The Fox Family” by Merna Victor will be featured at the Tucson Festival of Books 2022
Readers can see the perspective of foxes in Victor’s first children’s book.

“The Fox Family” by Merna Victor will be displayed at the Tucson Festival of Books on March 12-13,2022, at the University of Arizona Mall, Tucson, AZ.
The story begins when a couple of foxes, Sidney and Lavinia, are looking for a decent place to live and prepare for their upcoming children. Luckily, Beatrice Badger of the Badger family has offered their place as they move out because it is daunting for them to climb in and out of it. After that, the Fox family has settled in their new place and prepared for the births of their four little kits named Ruby, Rusty, Rain, and Rosie. Lavinia then roamed and observed humans because the Badger family warned the Fox family about them. As Lavinia studied and stared at the humans, he has learned that a family of human beings are just like them who care for their children.
This wonderful book was inspired by one early spring afternoon when Merna was relaxing in her backyard, reading in a hammock. When she looked up, she saw a red fox sitting comfortably and watching her from approximately forty to fifty feet away. It moved a few steps closer to Merna, sat down, and stared. Was it pondering something? Merna stood up and entered her house, leaving the fox alone. She saw the fox circling her house numerous times, peering through the windows. The fox eventually relaxed on her driveway and then vanished. This red fox resurfaced in the forested area near her house around six weeks later, accompanied by four kits and a second adult red fox! Merna was fascinated by that scene. What had happened to them? Could they be living nearby? This event hugely contributed to the making of Merna’s first children’s book, “The Fox Family.”
