San Diego, California, USA – WEBWIRE

If one is brave enough to take the first step, reconciliation is not too far ahead.

“The Long and Winding Road” (ReadersMagnet; 2021) by Lionel Barry Harris will be featured at the LA Times Festival of Books in Spring 2022. This book tells the story of a young army corporal assigned to the somber task of transporting the body of a fellow soldier to Chicago, Illinois from San Antonio, Texas. He gladly accepts the assignment, but has no idea who the deceased soldier was; moreover, he had never been to Chicago before and had never been assigned such a task. Personally, he believes he is unprepared and miscast for the task.

The young corporal was a native of Missouri. All he knows is that he is estranged from his M.I.A. father, who lives in Chicago, and that he has no intention of seeing him again. He didn’t want to reconcile with his father, even if he was only here for a task, he thought. But, what if this was the opportunity that was made to reconcile with his father, to make peace with him, and finally be free from the pent-up emotion he feels towards his father. It tells the story of a young man, who takes an in-depth look at his long past and realizes he may be underestimating himself. His distinct path, with its peaks and valleys, groomed and prepared him for the long and winding road ahead of him.

“The Long and Winding Road” is an inspiring book that teaches readers the importance of reconciliation because it is often the simple things that people accumulate; the hurts, resentments, and grudges that they have harbored against the person. Harris hopes that people will stop harboring such negative feelings toward others and instead try to hear them out, understand them if they have a reason, and learn to reconcile with them.

Just as this story is told, will the young corporal truly reconcile with his father? Interested? Find out more and grab a copy of “The Long and Winding Road” by Lionel Harris available on RM Bookstore, and come visit the upcoming LA Times Festival of Books in Spring 2022.
