Don’t miss the public display of Mary Tolbert Coy’s “Exhale...Breathe Again” at the 2022 L.A. Times Festival of Books.

The memoir “Exhale…Breathe Again” (Dorrance Publishing; 2021) by Mary Tolbert Coy is one of the thousands of new titles that will be exhibited at the 2022 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on April 23-24, 2022, at the University of Southern California campus, Los Angeles, CA.

The book will be publicly displayed at the exhibit that self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet will host at the L.A. Times Festival of Books, which is the country’s largest literary event.

“Exhale…Breathe Again” explores surviving abuse and trauma and hopefully prompts people to view life and people from more than just their perspectives. The author said her book is “about getting rid of emotional and sometimes physical weight that holds us down and we feel like we can’t breathe. The challenge is to “Exhale…Breathe Again.”

In writing the book, the author took information from reputable sources as well as her reflections and experiences, which, she said, took her to “a dark place.”

“I took the darkness and by the grace and mercy of God changed it into a beautiful light to help guide many others,” the author said.

She further explains the premise of “Exhale…Breathe Again,” “Who and what we are is based on life experiences, and what we observe from outside sources. What makes one person may break the next. Some of these experiences produce deep pain, and if they are not resolved, like a volcano that erupts, the rage will burn anything in its path.

“A lot of people have unresolved emotions and conflicts that need to be resolved. When these issues are addressed, then and only then can some of the hate, contempt, abuse, racism, and emotional turmoil be resolved. Change must first take place within, and if positive, it will impact without. If you want to change a nation, you must first change and fix broken people. Many may not realize they are broken.”
