Thanks to its TikTok challenge, Carrefour has collected nearly 35 tonnes of food for vulnerable students

WEBWIRE

At the end of March, Carrefour launched a major challenge on TikTok: customers and employees were invited to create videos of themselves knocking elbows to help students suffering from food poverty.

For each video posted on the social network, Carrefour donated a kilo of food to the HopHopFood charity which helps the most vulnerable people – such as students.

Thanks to thousands of people getting involved, Carrefour and its Foundation were able to donate nearly 35 tonnes of food to HopHopFood, which will redistribute it to students in need. The food will be given out in the form of baskets and hot meals, or will go to cooperative grocery shops on student campuses in Paris, Toulouse and Lille. Thanks to this initiative, between 1800 and 2000 students will get support for several months.
