Born in the USA and of European descent, Oelerich assimilated perfectly and had become a true daughter of Brooklyn. This proved to be true with the way she had formed treasured friendships with people of diverse race; especially with her best friend. In fact, some of her in-laws are of different culture, heritage, and religion.

Helene Meisner Oelerich, also emphasized her love for teaching. This passion for teaching had led to her winning the Teacher of the Year Award in 1970 which was presented by District 17. She had also created a great impact in the life of one of her students. A boy from her class named David, was a “select mute.” There was no physical reason for him not to speak, but for some reason, he chose not to talk in school. However, her tutelage and an introduction to theater, sparked David’s interest. David landed a role at a play she was producing for her students, and from that point on, David spoke often at school. He even went on to write the best written poem, and shared it to the whole school audience. This was a testament to her teaching style, which was centered on letting the students feel good about themselves. Her style definitely impacted many lives, especially the lives of her student.

She also accounts her exciting travels around the world, and a natural infatuation to parties and socializing. Dubbed as New York’s Dining Diva, she does reviews for restaurants in The Big Apple. She definitely has the knack for the finer taste of food, and life.

From her beautiful recollections of her childhood, to sensually thrilling exploits, this is definitely a no holds barred autobiography with a tasteful blend of honesty, humor, and heartfelt sincerity. Readers will certainly find her way of writing very compelling as well as entertaining.
