BCW’s Brian Ellner Named to City & State’s Political PR Power 50 List

BCW, a leading global communications agency, today announced that Brian Ellner, Executive Vice President, Growth and Marketing, New York, BCW, has been named to City & State magazine’s 2021 Political PR Power 50 list. The list ranks the best strategic communications professionals in New York politics and policy. This is the second consecutive year Ellner has been named to the list.

In the past year Ellner has worked on the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) and the federal Equality Act. In fact, he worked closely with a BCW client to help bring corporate America into the fight to pass the ERA, making it the first time that corporate America weighed in on its passage. Ellner also led BCW’s pro bono work with Governor Andrew Cuomo’s team on the state’s COVID-19 response.

In June of 2020, Ellner was ranked number 41 on City & State’s Pride Power 100 List.

In addition to leading new business and marketing for BCW’s New York market and counseling clients on public affairs and social purpose issues, Ellner is the executive sponsor for the New York chapter of BCW PRide – the agency’s LGBTQ+ employee resource group. He also encouraged the agency to become an active member of the Partnership for New York City, where he and BCW CEO Donna Imperato are active members.

In 2011, Ellner was the lead strategist for the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) successful effort to win marriage equality in New York. He also created HRC’s Americans for Marriage Equality campaign and provided strategic counsel on the 2012 marriage equality wins in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington. Earlier in his career, he was a senior aide in the administration of Mayor Mike Bloomberg, working with the NYC Department of Education to transform public education.
