Partnership Expands Global Distributor Network for Agfa Manufactured Inks.

Mortsel, Belgium - January 26, 2007, Agfa Graphics announced today that it has reached an agreement with Digital Imaging Group LLC of Boca Raton, FL, USA, for the distribution of Agfa’s new premium aqueous ink for inkjet printing. Digital Imaging Group will sell the Agfa digital ink set in North America under the LumaChromeTM name. The partnership is seen as an important step in Agfa Graphics’ strategy to expand its global distributor network for its growing range of digital inks. Agfa Graphics announced its plans to become a leading manufacturer of digital inks for industrial inkjet printing applications in 2004. It has since launched a wide range of both UV-curable (:Anuvia, :Anapurna, :Agorix), eco solvent (:GSU-AM, :Aldura) and aqueous inks including :AM Dye and the new inks now to be distributed by Digital Imaging Group.

Before selecting the Agfa ink, Digital Imaging Group tested it against most competitive brands and found that the Agfa manufactured ink set gave print results which exceeded those of the major OEM pigment inks, with much smoother mid-tone and shadow details. Agfa Graphics developed the ink set for professionals who work in photography, fine art reproduction, high-end graphics and proofing. “We’ve tested these new inks from Agfa Graphics using a wide range of printers and found a good colour balance and an expanded gamut exceeding current pigment inks from other manufacturers”, said Edward Michaels, Vice President of Digital Imaging Group LLC. “It offers exceptional reds and blues, powerful yellows, the smoothest mid tones and shadows, sharp, crisp printing with no visible wicking or bleeding, excellent dry times on a wide range of media and very good jetting capabilities overall. LumaChromeTM is superior to OEM inks for colour proofing, digital photography and display graphics.”

“This new set further strengthens Agfa Graphics’ offering for the graphic arts proofing, photographic and fine art markets. We are very pleased with our new relationship with Digital Imaging Group and look forward to forming further partnerships to extend the distribution network for our inks,” says Bert Groenendaal, Agfa Graphics product and marketing manager for inkjet inks.

Agfa’s new aqueous pigment ink set consists of cyan, light cyan, magenta, light magenta, yellow, black, light black and light light black. The inks feature vivid solid colours that are almost as bright as most dye based inks, but suffer none of the fading characteristics associated with conventional water-based dye inks. They exhibit good gloss characteristics, no differential of black and colours on glossy or semi-gloss media, no bronzing effects, no posterisation of shadows, and excellent jetting capabilities for long print runs.

The new aqueous pigment ink set is optimised for use with Roland, Mutoh, Mimaki and Epson printers, and other printers using similar printhead technologies.
