Southampton FC fans will make their long-awaited return to St Mary’s Stadium for the first time in nine months this Sunday. With limited fans allowed in, shirt sleeve sponsor, Virgin Media, is giving up their seats to give fans increased access to the match as part of its Super Saints campaign.

Virgin Media recognises that football is all about the fans and that is why it is ensuring that as many fans as possible can have the opportunity to watch the Saints in action.

In addition to general tickets in the main stadium, Virgin Media has worked closely with Southampton FC and their Foundation to identify true ‘Super Saints’ fans who have done amazing things in their community during the Covid-19 pandemic.

These selected families and households will be given access to Virgin Media’s hospitality facilities which will provide a safe and secure environment for them to enjoy the match in style.

Two of the families in the box will include Joshua (aged 15) and Florence (10 years old). Prior to lockdown in March, Virgin Media, alongside star players James Ward-Prowse, Jack Stephens and Oriol Romeu, presented both of the young Saints fans with life-changing wearable technology which has enabled them to see better and watch their beloved team in action on TV.

The young duo were due to be mascots for the Southampton and Manchester City game last season but, due to Covid-19, it meant that this had to be put on hold. However, they’re incredibly excited about joining 2,000 Saints fans at St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday.

Florence said: “It’s really exciting that fans can finally go and watch the game and I’ve really missed St Mary’s. It’ll be really good for the players as well to hear the fans supporting them. Come on you Saints!”

Virgin Media has made a commitment that it will continue to reward Saints fans with increased access to tickets and their hospitability facilities for future home matches as part of its Super Saints campaign.

Cilesta Van Doorn, Brand and Marketing Director at Virgin Media, said:

“Football hasn’t been the same without fans inside stadiums and we are so excited for Saints supporters to make their return to St Mary’s. As a proud partner of Southampton FC, and an admirer of the fans’ tireless and incredible support, it’s only right that we give up our seats to as many Saints supporters as possible so that they can watch their team in action.

“This is at the heart of everything that we do through our Super Saints campaign and we will continue to deliver unforgettable experiences for fans.”

Virgin Media’s ‘Super Saints’ campaign recognises Saints supporters with a range of money-can’t-buy experiences as well as unique fan competitions and exclusive behind the scenes content.
