Company to Increase Role in Standardization for Carrier Ethernet and Strengthen Relationships with Service Providers

Paris, France and Herndon, VA (United States), January 16, 2006 – InfoVista (NASDAQ: IVTA; Euronext IFV - FR0004031649) announced today that it is joining the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), bringing welcome news to the fast-growing Carrier Ethernet community with its increasing need for robust performance management for Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Carrier Ethernet is at the center of a radical market transformation and is in high demand by both service providers and enterprises, largely because of its scalability, lower cost for higher bandwidth, and straightforward, familiar Ethernet technology basis. With its demand fueled by increasing numbers of users and application convergence, the need for performance management in order to meet customer SLAs is increasing dramatically. Quality of Service (QoS) can only be as good as the weakest link in the delivery chain, making SLAs necessary for service providers to show that they’ve met customer demands. However, they cannot be enforced without performance management and InfoVista promotes a standards-based approach to monitoring performance end-to-end.

Ethernet technology is extensively being deployed for the delivery of high speed business connectivity services and increasingly, as infrastructure for residential triple-play rollouts.
