Company to Increase Role in Standardization for Carrier Ethernet and Strengthen Relationships with Service Providers

Paris, France and Herndon, VA (United States), January 16, 2006 – InfoVista (NASDAQ: IVTA; Euronext IFV - FR0004031649) announced today that it is joining the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), bringing welcome news to the fast-growing Carrier Ethernet community with its increasing need for robust performance management for Service Level Agreements (SLAs). InfoVista, the leader in service-centric performance management software, manages Carrier Ethernet networks for many of the world’s leading service providers including Cable & Wireless, Telecom Malaysia, Telefonica and ntl: Telewest. As an MEF member, the company will play an active role in shaping Carrier Ethernet standards, helping drive equipment and service certification, and will further strengthen its relationships with service providers.

“InfoVista has stepped into a leadership role in the Carrier Ethernet community,” said Jean-Luc Valente, senior vice president, marketing and strategic alliances with InfoVista. “In addition to being the first-to-market with a performance management solution for Carrier Ethernet, InfoVista is the first such vendor to join the Metro Ethernet Forum. We intend to use this position to help shape the standards for this emerging technology and elevate the visibility of performance management and service assurance solutions as a critical component to meeting end-user demands for higher bandwidth, converged applications.”

Carrier Ethernet is at the center of a radical market transformation and is in high demand by both service providers and enterprises, largely because of its scalability, lower cost for higher bandwidth, and straightforward, familiar Ethernet technology basis. With its demand fueled by increasing numbers of users and application convergence, the need for performance management in order to meet customer SLAs is increasing dramatically. Quality of Service (QoS) can only be as good as the weakest link in the delivery chain, making SLAs necessary for service providers to show that they’ve met customer demands. However, they cannot be enforced without performance management and InfoVista promotes a standards-based approach to monitoring performance end-to-end.

Ethernet technology is extensively being deployed for the delivery of high speed business connectivity services and increasingly, as infrastructure for residential triple-play rollouts. Carrier Ethernet is a technology whose time has come and an increasingly broad group of vendors are invested in creating standards and augmenting their own solutions to address its inherent opportunities.

“The OSS community is now required to build out support for the increasing volumes of Carrier Ethernet deployments,” commented Nan Chen, MEF President. “Like other industry stakeholders, they will utilize the MEF as the focal point for much of this work. We are pleased to have InfoVista as our newest member and are confident that the Carrier Ethernet community will benefit greatly from their performance management contributions.”
