Oxnard, CA, USA – WEBWIRE

Our goal is to raise awareness for farmworkers and recognize the work this ’invisible’ population justly deserves.

The video Vivir y Luchar” by Mariachi Águilas de Oxnard was launched on Cinco de Mayo to raise awareness and support to the thousands of farmworkers and frontline workers providing essential duties during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ventura County, California.

The song and video Vivir y Luchar” is inspired by Marc Anthony’s “Vivir Mi Vida” and expresses how feeding our farmworkers is the least we can do to appreciate, and recognize the work this ‘invisible’ population justly deserves.  A Go Fund Me page has been set up by a special project called Feeding The Frontline: Feeding Our Farmworkers “to feed those who feed us” by visiting farms & community locations to provide lunch and/or dinner. Farmworkers boxes include; essential products, bilingual COVID19 information, and Census 2020 materials alongside their healthy box of food.

“Without our farmworkers and other essential workers we don’t eat or live and so we dedicate this song to them,” says Juan Carlos Ozuna, Founder and Music Director for Mariachi Águilas de Oxnard.

The music video for “Vivir y Luchar” features volunteers and community leaders participating in Feeding The Frontline: Feeding Our Farmworker events throughout Ventura County, CA.  Feeding The Frontline has aggregated over a 100 tons of donated food, packaged by the Local Love Project, at eight events and over 3,000 families throughout various Ventura County communities.

The Go Fund Me page was set up by ÁNIMO Film & Theatre based in Oxnard and who produced the “Vivir y Luchar” video and has worked in collaboration with Mariachi Águilas for the past five years.

“We’re honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with Mariachi Águilas de Oxnard, especially during the Covid-19 crisis,” says Miguel Orozco, Artistic Director for ÁNIMO Film & Theatre.

Feeding the Frontline: Feeding Our Farmworkers was launched by John Hinojosa from Ruby’s Fresh Mexican Food Restaurant, Chef Juan J. Sanjuan III from Gloria’s Mexican Restaurant, and Roberto Juárez, CEO of Clinicas del Camino Real who brought together other community leaders, businesses and volunteers to plan and deliver regular food distributions specifically for farmworkers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.  For more information Feeding the Frontline: Feeding Our Farmworkers visit: www.feedingourfarmworkers.org.
