McDonald’s Gives Away Nearly 4 Million Thank You Meals to Healthcare Workers and First Responders in First Six Days

Thank You Meals for frontline heroes continues through May 5.

Chicago, IL – WEBWIRE

In just a few days of the Thank You Meal program, McDonald’s restaurants have served nearly 4 million free meals, a value of more than $20 million, to the healthcare workers, paramedics, firefighters, police officers and other first responders keeping America safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

These frontline heroes have given us the privilege of serving them at McDonald’s restaurants in all 50 states, and we are ready to serve millions more before the offer ends on May 5, providing a sense of normalcy and happiness during this time of crisis.

“Since we launched the Thank You Meal program last week, the response from our franchisees, restaurant crews and customers has been incredible,” said Joe Erlinger, McDonald’s U.S. President. “In my nearly 20 years at McDonald’s, I’ve never been more proud of the way the McDonald’s system has come together to give back in the communities we serve.”

Healthcare workers and first responders from around the country have shared some of their experiences with us along the way: (see picture)

We remain grateful to all the McDonald’s employees who make it possible to continue serving our communities and the essential workers who need quick, affordable options during these challenging times.

About McDonald’s Corp. U.S. COVID-19 Relief Efforts
McDonald’s approach to challenging situations is guided by our belief that we are all in this together, and our system has come together in extraordinary ways to help each other, our customers and the communities we serve. In the U.S. we remain committed to leading by example as an organization, which is why we’ve donated $3.1 million in food to support local communities, made commitments to support truck drivers across the country, donated 1 million N95 masks to Chicago and the state of Illinois and donated $1 million to the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund to ensure non-profits in our home state have the supplies they need during this time. McDonald’s has always been a home base for our communities, and we’re proud to provide calm and comfort to them throughout this crisis. We are here to serve.
