Provides comprehensive analysis of Avaya IP telephony solutions based on automated best practices

12-Dec-2006 - ANNAPOLIS, Md. and BASKING RIDGE, N.J. - Netcordia, a leading provider of network analysis tools, today announced that its NetMRI network diagnostic tool is compliant with key Internet protocol (IP) telephony solutions from Avaya (NYSE:AV), a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services. NetMRI is a comprehensive tool that uses automated best practices to analyze wireless, virtual private network (VPN), virtual local area network (VLAN), IP and voice over IP (VoIP) problems.

NetMRI now is compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya Communication Manager 3.1.2 IP telephony software. Specifically, NetMRI collects and analyzes Call Detail Records from Avaya’s software on a daily basis or a more frequent interval. This analysis of call information and performance provides network managers with an excellent overview of how voice traffic travels throughout a network and helps them troubleshoot specific problems. As a result, companies can increase network uptime, reduce troubleshooting and repair time, and avoid potential confusion concerning the source of a problem on a multivendor network.

“Certification gives Avaya users the highest level of assurance that NetMRI integrates seamlessly with Avaya software to provide a complete systems-level view,” said Terry Slattery, founder and CTO of Netcordia. “VoIP traffic transits the entire infrastructure of routers, switches, IP telephony servers, IP phones and circuits. Having proactive visibility into service quality with understandable, useful and actionable information is critical for superior management of VoIP services.”

Netcordia is a member of the Avaya DeveloperConnection Program - an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company’s investment in its network.

As a member of the program, Netcordia is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab in Lincroft, N.J. There a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant. Doing so ensures businesses can confidently add best-in-class capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure—speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs.

“By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like Netcordia who are members of our DeveloperConnection program, Avaya promotes fully interoperable solutions that help businesses unleash powerful new possibilities,” said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya. “They are able to use Intelligent Communications to connect employees and customers to information from wherever they are, over whatever device they have available – getting more out of their multivendor network and delivering new value to their bottom line.”
