Nina is your average American driving according to the rules of the road, when she was violently rear-ended, resulting into injuries and brain swelling that incapacitated her physically. Her initial reaction after the jolt was complete incoherence, unaware of the extent of her injuries, until she moved to unbuckle herself, then stopped when the excruciating pain rendered her immobile.

She vaguely remembers being transported into an ambulance, her concern more about the state of the vehicle and where it’s left behind.

From here she was constantly floating in and out of consciousness, aware that life goes on, but she isn’t an active participant anymore, hindered by her condition and medication. When she had began getting better, she was involved in another car accident, crushing her already-wilting spirit.

Her feelings of devastation, the inability to surmount her pain, and the struggle to manage her life swallowed her fully so that she briefly surrendered to despair. Yet, despite her tangible helplessness, Nina Elliott always raised her head to the words of God. When she lifts up her pain and sorrow, she sees God’s hands, helping her cope.
