Not everything will go your way in this world, be prepared!
"A Sailor’s Cross - Letters to My Children" by: Rene Baptiste
The world is not always a beautiful place. Along with the beautiful, there is the ugly, along with the good people there are the bad ones. If there is the reality then there is also the fake, and this applies to persons, groups, opportunities, situations, and even smiles.
How do you tell this to your children? How do you make them understand that there are no such things as limitations and that the best way to deal with life is, to be honest to themselves?
Rene Baptiste decided to tell his children --Dorian, Jayden, and Leah-- about these encounters in life through poetry.
In this collection of thoughts, Baptiste reveals what he wants his children to know about dealing with the bright side and the dark side of life. Some of the poems are expressed as his imagined exchanges and conversations with God while others are brief and to the point.
Rene Baptiste is a husband, father, and a veteran who, though he no longer fights in wars, still wages a constant battle with PTSD. He also describes himself as a Christian who has his own cross to bear.
He assembled this collection from a jumble of notes written on scrap paper, grocery receipts, table napkins, journals, and any blank page he could get his hands on.
