Author E. Dorinda Shelley unveils her new book in Frankfurt

Former dermatologist and children’s book writer E. Dorinda Shelley is set to display her book “Dasher and the Sleigh-Train” (PRGott Books Publishing; 2019) in Frankfurt next month. Shelley’s book encompasses themes and lessons that are worth sharing with kids.
 
In “Dasher and the Sleigh-Train”, formerly “Santa’s Sleigh-Train,” Santa is worried about his sleigh being overloaded with toys. When Dasher falls sick, everything seems hopeless until Santa spots a toy train on the table. The elves object to his idea of using it, but Santa has a brilliant plan. He transforms the toy train into a big locomotive with the sleigh sitting on top! Santa takes the train for a test run and is satisfied. Then the elves begin packing more presents into the train and, as they are about to leave, Santa takes all the reindeer with him, except for one—Dasher.
 
Everybody enjoys their time delivering the presents on Christmas Eve. The next day, the reindeer visit Dasher at the infirmary and ask him if he was sorry that he wasn’t able to join them.  Dasher tells them that he is not sad and feels relieved that the presents were delivered on time, even without him. The reindeer gather around Dasher and sing “Jingle Bells” for him. Dasher feels even better when he hears them sing.

About the Author

E. Dorinda Shelley was born in 1940 and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. She was blessed with a superb John Burroughs School education and graduated with a BA in Zoology from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. She studied medicine at the University of Missouri graduating in 1966 and trained in dermatology at the same institution. She worked in academic dermatology at Stanford University, the University of Illinois in Chicago and Peoria, and the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, now the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences.  She and her dermatologist husband raised three children and published several dermatology textbooks and scientific articles. She recently opened secondhand bookstores, Library House Books and Art and the Happy Historian Bookshop in Grand Rapids, Ohio, where she lives. She enjoys estate auctions and library sales.
