This Memoir is an empowering testimonial that one can have a successful career without the betrayal of self and intrinsic values that we are led to believe are inexorable concomitants on that path to success. An inspiring witness to the overcoming power of a life of integrity!-Amazon Review

Around the world, many dream of being able to rise above their impoverished circumstances and build a better life for themselves and their families. Dr. Frank L Douglas was able to accomplish the impossible and rise from living in poverty in British Guyana to being on the frontlines of pharmaceutical research in the United States. In his spellbinding memoir, Defining Moments of a Free Man From a Black Stream, Dr. Douglas, brings to life a story of great accomplishment. He relates how his values of hard work, determination and self-control served him well in his voyage to contribute to the world of medicine.

Douglas’ childhood was spent in poverty and political upheaval; he arrived in the United States with a Fulbright scholarship in 1963. Despite experiencing racism and prejudice from the people around him, Douglas was able to rise to become one of the foremost medical and pharmaceutical researchers in the United States. This book is a tale of inspiration, perfect for those seeking confirmation that hard work and determination can overcome the most challenging of circumstances.
