Wilmington, DE – WEBWIRE

“Our support of this exceptional event carries added meaning,” says Dave Geiger, founder and CEO of Horizon Services. “This year, we remember and honor two beloved team members of the Horizon family affected by cardiovascular complications in 2018.”

Horizon Services joined local Delaware community members as a sponsor of the American Heart Association’s 2019 Go Red For Women Luncheon. The Go Red For Women movement works to make sure women know they are at risk so they can take action to protect their health. The event took place on May 16, 2019, at the DuPont Country Club. Horizon’s sponsorship is an extension of the company’s ongoing commitment to the comfort and well-being of the community.

“Our support of this exceptional event carries added meaning,” says Dave Geiger, founder and CEO of Horizon Services. “This year, we remember and honor two beloved team members of the Horizon family affected by cardiovascular complications in 2018.”

Now in its fifteenth year, the Go Red for Women luncheon serves as the cornerstone event of the Go Red For Women movement in the Wilmington community. Emceed by Michael Waite and Jessie Micchelli of 99.5 WJBR’s morning show, the luncheon brought together association members, supporting organizations, and families affected by heart disease.

Attendees listened to inspiring presentations by leaders in women’s heart health, including medical experts, heart disease survivors, as well as event chairwoman Kimberly Hoffman, Esq., a partner at the state-wide law firm, Morris James, LLP. The afternoon event also included a health expo, silent auction, and fashion show.

“Our entire Horizon team supports the accomplishments of the American Heart Association,” adds Geiger. “We are inspired and motivated by the stories of AHA members, and look forward to new opportunities to spread heart health awareness.”

According to research, just 55% of women realize heart disease is their number one killer. Even fewer are aware of cardiovascular risk factors, including high blood pressure and cholesterol.
