Thomson Investment Management News Journalist Wins State Street 2006 Institutional Press Award

Cecilia Valente Named Journalist of the Year for Pensions Issues

LONDON, 11/17/2006 - Thomson Investment Management News, part of Thomson Financial, a leading provider of information, news and technology solutions to the global financial community, announced that Cecilia Valente was named Journalist of the Year for pensions issues at the State Street 2006 Institutional Press Awards this week.

The State Street 2006 Institutional Press Awards are considered the Oscars of fund management writing. The jury of senior figures in the industry highlighted Cecilia’s success in being the only journalist to secure an interview with Lord Adair Turner on the day his reforms for the UK pensions industry were published. The piece was sent out on the Thomson Investment Management News service before Lord Turner had finished announcing his plans to the rest of the press. Cecilia was awarded the accolade ahead of competition from Reuters in the online and wire news segment.

Two other Thomson Investment Management News reporters were short-listed in other awards categories. Raji Menon was nominated alongside Cecilia for her work on pensions issues, while hedge fund reporter Ingrid Smith was short-listed in the investment writing category.
