“The Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation found strong alignment with Blue Star’s mission and its impact of empowering youth with disabilities,” stated Blue Star’s Founder Bill Morris.

Denver, CO.  February 11, 2019.   Blue Star Recyclers announces that it plans to open a new recycling facility outside Colorado in 2019. The opportunity to expand operations is made possible with a $250,000 grant from Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation.  The project is part of the Foundation’s national M PWR Possible Initiative focused on empowering youth with disabilities to lead productive lives. Several cities are finalists for the new Blue Star location, including Atlanta, Chicago, and Cincinnati.

In 2018, Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation supported Blue Star Recyclers with an initial grant to evaluate the best ways to replicate and expand the Blue Star mission of employing people with autism and other disabilities. The research examined 27 U.S. cities and conducted feasibility studies in 12 markets for opportunities to replicate Blue Star operations beyond its original locations in Colorado Springs and Denver.

“The Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation found strong alignment with Blue Star’s mission and its impact of empowering youth with disabilities,” stated Blue Star’s Founder Bill Morris.  “This new grant makes it possible for Blue Star to deliver significant community impact and create real jobs for people with disabilities beyond Colorado.” Blue Star projects their new operations will open in the third quarter of 2019.
