CA Positioned In Leaders Quadrant For Web Access Management

WEBWIRE

ISLANDIA, N.Y., October 19, 2006 – CA (NYSE: CA) today announced it has been positioned in the leaders quadrant in Gartner’s “Magic Quadrant for Web Access Management, 2H06” report.* Gartner positions vendors in the magic quadrant based on their completeness of vision and ability to execute.

According to Gartner, the Web access management (WAM) marketplace has recently exhibited better than expected growth—near 10%. Gartner applies the term “’Web access management’ to access control products that provide centralized authentication and authorization capabilities for Web-delivered applications.” Gartner predicts that by “2011, 50% of Global 2000 organizations will use centralized access control repositories for at least 70% of all enterprise applications (0.7 probability).”

CA’s Web access management product, eTrust SiteMinder, combines traditional Web access management capabilities with identity federation and strong authentication management as part of a highly scalable and proven architecture. eTrust SiteMinder is a key component of CA’s IAM (Identity and Access Management) solution which also includes identity administration, user provisioning, enterprise single sign-on, user directory, and Web services security. This integrated solution helps to reduce IT costs, control and reduce overall security risk, and enable regulatory compliance by centrally managing users and their access to assets across a broad range of platforms and systems—including mainframe, distributed, Internet and mobile infrastructures.

“Web access control is a critical component of any security architecture—but it must also be implemented as part of a larger IAM strategy, so that the efficiency and integrity of security operations are not compromised by fragmented management,” said Toby Weiss, senior vice president and general manager of CA’s Security Management Business Unit. “By offering best-of-breed Web access management functionality as an integrated component of a comprehensive IAM solution, CA uniquely enables customers to effectively and efficiently address both their Web security requirements and their larger security management challenges.”
