New Remote Transport Option Adds System i Support

ISLANDIA, N.Y., October 2, 2006 – CA (NYSE: CA) today announced a new release of CA Harvest Change Manager (CA Harvest), its powerful software configuration management solution for managing complex, enterprise-wide development activities throughout the application development life cycle, and a new option that provides IBM System i support.

By managing software change and integrating new releases across mainframe and distributed environments, CA Harvest helps IT organizations optimize system availability and performance, reduce ownership costs, and support compliance.

CA Harvest 7.1 features new Microsoft SQL Server-based data store platforms, including existing support for Oracle and Ingres databases. It also supports new platforms and development environments, including Microsoft .NET 2005 and Eclipse-based tools.

CA Harvest 7.1 integrates with Unicenter Software Delivery to automate deployment of applications once they are ready for the production environment. It provides enhanced LDAP support to authenticate users from an external source. The new version also simplifies connectivity across environments and enables users to synchronize data in order to ease collaborative use of files in UNIX directories, Windows folders and MVS libraries.

“As demands on our IT organization continue to escalate, it is essential for us to improve the operational efficiency of our development teams as much as possible,” said Nigel Shannon, project manager for HBOS, one of Europe’s leading banking and financial services firms. “By managing both internal development and third-party supplied code for IBM’s iSeries platform to deliver this incremental efficiency, CA Harvest allows us to fully leverage our developer resources to fulfill the needs of the business.”

In addition to the System i platform, CA Harvest Remote Transport Option extends CA Harvest functionality to other previously unsupported platforms, including OpenVMS and Tandem, to deliver change control over the complete software development environment. The new option also can manage application development on remote machines and connect to Windows, UNIX and Linux platforms.

“As Global 2000 IT organizations continue to grapple with resource constraints and the challenges associated with developing software for complex enterprise computing environments, CA continues to respond with evolving application life cycle management solutions,” said Terrence Clark, vice president of Development at CA. “CA Harvest 7.1 and the new CA Harvest Remote Transport Option underscore our commitment to this market and our ability to deliver solutions that fulfill its evolving requirements.”

CA Harvest is a component of CA’s Service Management Accelerator, a comprehensive portfolio of software, services and training programs designed to help customers automate ITIL best practices.
