Celebrating Albanian-American Artists in New York City’s Meatpacking District

NEW YORK, New York (June 22, 2015) – The Albanian Professionals and Entrepreneurs Network (APEN), the country’s only official non-profit dedicated to serving the Albanian-American professional and entrepreneur community, is partnering with celebrated Albanian artist and curator Alkan Nallbani for the fourth year in a row. The POP-UP! gallery will celebrate the arts and showcase the talents of the Albanian community in New York City’s Meatpacking District on June 27th and 28th, with an opening night event on June 27th.

Alkan Nallbani has curated shows throughout the world, including various venues in Albania, Italy, and at the New Museum in New York City. Nallbani has been recognized for his work worldwide, and in addition to featuring some of his own pieces, he has also personally selected each piece that will be featured at POP-UP!.

“It’s exciting for me to work with APEN for POP-UP! and show in the Meatpacking District,” said Nallbani. “There is certainly a personal aspect for me when working with the incredible talent within our Albanian community. I am extremely proud to participate in such a positive event that celebrates art, talent, and culture.”  

Since 2007, APEN has connected a network of hundreds of Albanian-American professionals in a variety of industries within the tri-state area, creating a supportive environment to celebrate accomplishments within the Albanian community and connecting individuals from similar backgrounds.

“Albanian-Americans have been part of the heartbeat of New York City for decades,” said APEN Co-Chair, Nick Nikic. “APEN is honored to display yet another facet of our community in one of the most celebrated neighborhoods in Manhattan.”

The gallery will be free and open to the public on Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th from 11am to 5pm. Advanced tickets for opening night are available at apenpopup.eventbrite.com.
