Logic PD Participates in Technovation Minnesota Challenge

Employees led teams in ideation, market research, coding and business development

Minneapolis – WEBWIRE

Logic PD, a complete digital product lifecycle solutions company, announced its participation in the Minnesota Technovation Challenge, which took place from February to April. An entrepreneurship program, Technovation seeks to teach young women ages 10 to 18 to develop mobile applications and launch startup companies. Five Logic PD employees representing various company departments including engineering, design and communications participated in the program to mentor three local middle school teams.

“At Logic PD, we believe it’s important for engineering professionals to give back and inspire and mentor young women to pursue STEM careers,” said Mona Phaff, vice president, Design and Engineering, Logic PD. “I’m proud that we are using our skills to create a supportive environment for them to learn mobile app development and entrepreneurship.”

Technovation gives young women the opportunity to experience the entire product development process for mobile applications. Born from the national Technovation challenge, the local event consists of a three-month, 50-hour curriculum where teams work together to develop and pitch business plans and mobile apps to solve community problems.

As part of the program, Logic PD employees mentored teams for 12 weeks in the areas of product ideation, market research, user-centered design, coding and business plan development.

Logic PD employees who participated in this year’s Technovation were:

  • Mona Phaff, vice president of Design and Engineering Services
  • Lisa Walker, vice president of Product Support Services
  • Brian Clemens, director of Design
  • Kim Davis, director of Corporate Communications
  • Ana Santos, electrical engineer

Teams will pitch their apps at Appapalooza on May 3 and submit for the global Technovation challenge competition. From Minnesota, one high school team and three middle school teams will move to the semi-final round and will fly to Silicon Valley to pitch their apps to Venture Capitalists. The winning team receives ten thousand dollars seed funding and assistance to produce their app and distribute it on the Google Play store.
