BMW X3 xDrive35e Hybrid Likely To Launch In Next Generation

February 12, 2015- Buena Park, Calif. – Shelly BMW is excited to confirm, The third-generation BMW X3 is due out in 2017. Built under the codename G01, the 2017 BMW X3 is currently being tested in Europe.
BMW will offer the new X3 with a choice of four and six-cylinder engines, and insiders say, a plug-in hybrid also. Likely to be dubbed X3 xDrive35e, the baby brother to the new X5 xDrive40e, will use a similar platform as the upcoming 335e.
Under the hood, BMW has placed a turbocharged 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine tuned to deliver 177 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque.

  • The conventional engine is paired with an electric motor mounted in the standard eight-speed automatic gearbox
  • Provides an additional 94 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque.
  • The total output comes to 242 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
