“Cuckoo’s Nest” at Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel Gothenburg winner of the European Hospitality Awards 2014

“Cuckoo’s Nest” – the  restaurant, bar and meeting place at the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel in Gothenburg,  Sweden – has won the award for ”Best Hotel Bar” in the prestigious European  Hospitality Awards 2014. This is the second time in a year that the special and  well-designed bar in Gothenburg is recognized internationally.

“Cuckoo’s Nest”  is a unique and innovative venue; designed with a fine line between genius and  madness. It is located at Lindholmen Science Park in Gothenburg, three steps  from the quayside in the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel. Last year, “Cuckoo’s  Nest” received the prestigous European Hotel Design Awards for ”Europe’s Best  Bar”. Now,  it has won the European  Hospitality Awards 2014 which were celebrated in London.

The judges were impressed by the manner in  which “Cuckoo’s Nest” drew inspiration from its surrounding environment,  creating a destination for locals as well as guests. They commented on the  willingness to take risks, breaking the mould of the traditional hotel bar and  looking to develop something quite different from the expected  norm.  

Lindholmen is Gothenburg’s  old shipyard area, and has become a leading forum for research, innovation and  eduction within new technologies and communication. Thus, the ambition with “Cuckoo’s  Nest” has always been to create a place for innovators, visionaries and  dreamers. The interior is inspired by science labs and old libraries, and the  overall experience is as entertaining as exciting.
