Villa Milagro Vineyards to Open New Tasting Room, July 26 & 27.

“When we started this adventure called “place of miracles” (Villa Milagro) in 2001, we had no idea just how long it would take and how arduous it would be to build a vineyard and winery,” says owner and winemaker Audrey Gambino. With her husband, Steve, the Gambinos started by converting their vineyard soils to organic – a 2 year process - after which they began planting grapes. 
 
 “There was nothing here when we started,” says Steve Gambino.  “We had to build everything - a home, barn and supporting agricultural buildings.”  The Gambinos received lots of local support, beginning with their community barn raising in 2002.  “Neighbors came tirelessly to help us build, plant and harvest.  Their support is truly a reflection of our Spanish name – Villa Milagro – which means “home of miracles.”
 
Six years ago they began selling their wines from their barn.  “We covered the barn walls with drop cloths and twinkling lights, put a cloth on a table, and poured wine,” says Gambino.  By word of mouth, Villa Milagro has built a loyal following from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York customers who love its old world style wines made by blending the ten varieties of French, Italian and American grapes grown at the vineyard.
 
Again with the help of neighbors, the Gambinos have renovated the inside of the barn to create a more pleasant customer space.  “It’s still a barn,” says Gambino, “and we will continue to roll in farm equipment that needs repair.”  Like a multi-purpose room at a school, the space will serve both customers and farm needs.
 
Villa Milagro will celebrate the opening of its renovated space on Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27.  Local musicians will entertain: the Riverside Jazz Trio on Saturday and Dulce da Vida String Trio on Sunday.  Catered hors d’oeuvres will be served.  The Gambinos invite you to visit their winery and celebrate their progress.   www.VillaMilagroVineyards.com
