Kerplunc Media Launches AdCraft.io Public Beta – In-Game Advertising for Minecraft Servers

VANCOUVER (February 18, 2013) – Kerplunc Media is pleased to announce the launch of a public beta of AdCraft.io, a service that provides in-game advertising for Minecraft servers.
 
AdCraft.io provides an add-on plugin for the Bukkit Minecraft Server software which allows for the display of ads in-game. It is currently running on hundreds of Minecraft servers as part of its tightly controlled Private Beta period, and has been welcomed with overwhelming enthusiasm from the testers.
 
The In-Game advertising industry is expected to reach $1 billion annually by 2014 and $7.2 billion by 2016, according to Independent.co.uk. In-game advertising has increased in popularity and scope, used by everyone from Canada’s TD Bank to President Barack Obama’s 2012 election campaign.
 
Minecraft is a sandbox indie video game developed by Mojang. The desktop version has sold almost 10 million copies and is available on iOS, Android, and Xbox Live Arcade. Bukkit is an advanced server software for Minecraft that is heavily used by server operators.
 
According to a recent survey of Reddit’s /r/Minecraft, a large online community of Minecraft gamers, 44% of all Minecraft players spend over 10 hours a week in-game. According to this same source, 74% of the players are within the ages of 15 to 24, and 90% of them Male. Additionally, Minecrafters surveyed herein are largely located in North America, representing 72% of the surveyed population.
