ChemImage Promotes Dr. Shona Stewart to Director of Biomedical Research and Development

PITTSBURGH, PA - ChemImage Corp. is pleased to announce that Dr. Shona Stewart has been promoted to the company’s Director of Biomedical Research and Development.

In her new role, Dr. Stewart will be responsible for strategic planning and budgeting; securing grants and funding for research and development projects; and the management of the day-to-day operations for the Biomedical R&D group. 
Dr. Stewart joined ChemImage in 2002 as a Senior Scientist.  During her 10 years at the company, she has been an inventor/co-inventor on 14 issued patents and worked to develop spectroscopic and Chemical Imaging technology for applications within the biomedical industry, including working as part of a team developing methodologies to detect diseases in their early stages.

“Dr. Stewart has extensive knowledge and experience in Raman spectroscopy,” said Jim McGlone, President at ChemImage. “I look forward to enhancing our focus with her leadership, as we work to develop new advancements in the biomedical industry.”

Dr. Stewart received her Ph.D. in Chemistry at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia and completed her post doctorate studies in Raman imaging at the University of Michigan.  Dr. Stewart donates her time to the Pittsburgh community by volunteering at the Animal Rescue League of Western PA.
