Xerox iGen3 Digital Press Enables Modern International Graphics to Diversify Business

EASTLAKE, Ohio, and ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 17, 2006 -- Modern International Graphics Inc. is using a Xerox (NYSE: XRX) iGen3™ 110 Digital Production Press to help grow its digital printing business and become a more strategic partner for its clients.

With an iGen3 110 digital press and a Xerox NuveraTM 120 Digital Production System, the graphic communications company expects to grow its digital printing from 5 percent to 20 percent of overall print volume within the next two years.

“We recognized that to only be good at ink on paper could be a death sentence,” said Dave Margiotta, president and owner, Modern International Graphics Inc. “Getting the iGen3 digital color press was part of a business decision to continue to diversify our services and become more of an integral part of our clients’ business, rather than just be an output device.”

According to Margiotta, the Xerox iGen3 will help the company give customers a better return on their investment, including higher response rates on direct mail campaigns. He also said the digital color press has simplified his operations because of its paper flexibility and high-quality output, and it makes short print runs more economical than offset.

For one client - a cosmetics firm - Modern International Graphics can now print 100 pieces for each of 40 prototype packaging designs, on rigid, 18-point coated stock. The Xerox iGen3 press enables Modern International Graphics to cost-effectively produce the job in short runs and allow the client to test the prototypes before a major promotional rollout.

The company selected the iGen3 press after extensive testing against competitive products. “The Xerox iGen3 print quality was superior, it was faster, and it had the ability to print on larger sheet sizes,” said Margiotta. “We also feel Xerox really understands where the market is going.”

Modern International Graphics clients include numerous Fortune 500 companies. Among their clients that are using the Xerox iGen3 110 for jobs are Royal Philips Electronics, Sherwin-Williams, Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals of Cleveland, L’Oreal, Bonne Bell and National City Bank.

According to Margiotta, “With the Xerox iGen3 we now have all the pieces in place for us to grow our business. We already have a strong IT capability, a decade of experience in e-business, and the marketing savvy and knowledge.”

The company chose an EFI Fiery color server for the iGen3 digital press because the server integrates with the company’s existing software and proprietary automated Web-to-print system. “Web-to-print is an area that gives us a significant advantage with our clients, and the iGen3 press is great at supporting the integration of personalization and Web-to-print applications,” said Margiotta.

Modern International Graphics markets its capabilities to current customers and plans to expand into new vertical markets, such as legal marketing. Xerox recently trained the company’s 24 sales and customer care staff members on selling and supporting digital and variable information work. The company plans an open house in the fall to showcase its new services and the redesign of its facility specifically for the Xerox iGen3.

To further boost its marketing, Modern International Graphics uses the Xerox ProfitAccelerator™ Digital Business Resources collection and recently joined the Xerox Graphic Arts Premier Partners, a group of leading Xerox graphic communications customers around the world who network and share information. Modern International Graphics has already received several business leads as a member.

“We appreciate Xerox’s service mentality, its business-building and marketing model, and its commitment to support us,” said Margiotta.
