WhatSellsBest.com has published its annual list of Top Vinyl Records sold. Rare Sex Pistols, Beatles, and White Stripes all made the list, but one band clearly dominated the vintage vinyl category in 2012.

The yearly list of top-sellers tracked by WSB, was comprised of LP’s and Singles fetching prices between $12,000 and $35,000 (per record) at auction. One thing all the records seemed to have in common, was the historical significance they often played in the bands early histories.

According to James Massey, publisher of WSB; “Rarity and condition always play an important role for collectors. But the stories behind a bands early-efforts to get a record out to the public can often be fascinating. Sometimes those stories help push a records price to a premium.”
