On Wednesday, August 29, 2012, RealWebInsights.com, a subsidiary of Simple Steps I.T., announced the winners of their Los Angeles BMW Dealer Summer 2012 “Best Website SEO” contest, a competition that pitted ten different BMW Dealers from the Los Angeles area against each other in a competition designed to assess their knowledge of Search Engine Optimization and Internet Marketing.

“[These topics] can seem very boring to a lot of dealership General Managers and Sales VP’s,  and we certainly understand why,” explained Michael Anderle, President of Simple Steps I.T. “A lot of times, SEO companies throw statistics and acronyms out during meetings and it’s fairly mind-numbing to those who are striving day in and day out to beat the competition.

”To make the topics, strategies, and tactics more interesting, Simple Steps I.T. held a contest in which their research group conducted an in-depth analysis of the SEO and internet marketing capabilities of ten BMW dealerships in the biggest city on the West Coast.

According to Anderle, “When we do these types of reports, it is always interesting to see what your friendly neighborhood dealer has been up to, or at least what their outsourced agent has been doing. Often, the research will uncover back alley tricks, silly or useless efforts for improving their company’s page rank, and occasionally a few websites where companies should really be showcasing their content in order to secure high SEO rankings. There’s a saying in the world of internet marketing: ’as your ranking goes, so goes your sales’.

”The contenders for the Los Angeles BMW Dealer Summer 2012 “Best Website SEO” contest were Alexander BMW, BMW of Beverly Hills, BMW of Monrovia, Center BMW, Century West BWM, Longbeach BMW, McKenna BMW, New Century BMW, Pacific BMW, and SouthBay BMW.

Anderle stated that Real Web Insights’ hope for the contest was to “teach the automobile dealers a few things, share some of the information we uncovered, have a little fun, and maybe even sell a few BMW’s in the process.”Here are the top three winners from the competition, and Anderle’s comments on why they were chosen:

#1: BMW of Beverly Hills – “Certainly the absolute strongest contender.  BMW of Beverly Hills’ results were the best across the board.  No other website even came close.”

#2: Pacific BMW – “A Solidly performing website that just barely surpassed 3rd place.  While they suffered a significant amount on their ranked clicks results, they were able to come out ahead due to a slightly stronger Page Rank / Alexa Rank tie breaker.”

#3: McKenna BMW – “McKenna has the right ability to rank high on their key words; however, the value of those words were a little lower than Pacific’s. Otherwise, they would have taken the silver for sure.”

Simple Steps I.T. will be delivering trophies to the top three dealerships in recognition of their websites’ outstanding results.
