Leading Quick-Service Restaurant Chain Selects Oracle Over SAP to Enable Business Growth.

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. 26-JUN-2006 Oracle today announced that Arby’s, a leading quick-service restaurant chain, has selected the Oracle(r) E-Business Suite to help improve financial reporting, workforce management, new store construction and procurement for its more than 3,500 restaurants worldwide. The Oracle Applications will support Arby’s growth plans.

Following the acquisition of RTM, its largest franchisee, Arby’s faced a requirement to replace the company’s legacy information systems and streamline its financial reporting. The company selected Oracle after a comprehensive evaluation of the options available. Arby’s leadership identified Oracle as the solution that best met its business requirements for a scalable platform that could be deployed to achieve important results. “We are laying the foundation for the future of our business and our ability to provide customer and shareholder value,” said Arby’s CIO Don Zimmerman. “We selected Oracle to support our immediate and long-term goals for solid business growth.”

The Oracle Applications are scheduled to be implemented in multiple phases, with the first phase of completion expected around the end of the year. Oracle Financial Management will comprise the first phase and will help provide the company real benefits in the form of improved financial reporting capabilities and an improved control structure to aid in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

“A key factor in our decision is the industry experience Oracle brings to us, allowing us to effectively partner with them to meet our business objectives,” said Zimmerman. “The Oracle system addressed our most critical priorities and did so in a way that will enable us to achieve important benefits beginning with the first phase of the program.”

Because the Oracle system employs open standards, it will provide Arby’s with an easier path to future expansion and upgrades while replacing the company’s legacy information technology systems.

“Arby’s is a cornerstone in American culture and we are pleased to play a strategic role in the company’s business expansion,” said Oracle Senior Industry Director for Retail, Gladys Lau.
