Beach Boulevard of Cars Proudly Supports Assistance League of Huntington Beach

Beach Boulevard of Cars is excited to confirm, a donation was made, in April 2012, on behalf of all the dealerships encompassed in the Beach Boulevard of Cars (BBOC), to Assistance League of Huntington Beach, which is a nonprofit volunteer organization. All the members are dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and adults in the community through the collective strength of its volunteers and philanthropic programs.
    
Beach Boulevard of Cars made their donation on behalf of all the dealerships including, DeLillo Chevrolet, Huntington Beach Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram, Huntington Beach Ford, Norm Reeves Honda, Orange County Mazda, Huntington Beach Mitsubishi, Surf City Nissan, Scion of Huntington Beach and Toyota of Huntington Beach.
    
Assistance League of Huntington Beach was chartered in 1950 with the purpose of, “acting as a friend at any and all times to men, women, and children in need of care, guidance, and assistance; spiritually, materially, and physically"

The Assistance League currently has 289 volunteers who provided over 34,000 service hours last year to the community.
    
When their chapter was first chartered they opened the very first thrift store in Orange County. The first philanthropic programs were raising money to fight polio, purchasing penicillin for the needy families and even making bed jackets and jelly for hospital patients.
  
As times have changed, so did the nature of the philanthropic programs. Assistance League has worked with senior citizens, operated a speech center, tutored for the SAT Test, and staffed a hospital gift shop. Today the current philanthropic programs have changed to meet the current needs in the community.
    
Today their Thrift Store and their annual fundraising event, held in the spring, as well as donations and grants provide a continuing source of income that sustains the organization’s philanthropic programs.
    
Some of the philanthropic programs include, Operation School Bell®, Dental Service, Nursing Scholarships, Jr. Lifeguard Sponsorships, Operation Bear Hug, Operation New Beginnings, Glass Slipper, Screening Eyes Early (SEE), El Viento Scholarships and Links to Learning HB.
