“With rates of asthma rising among children, doctors and parents need health education that is engaging and fun for kids to watch,” said Tim Jones, CEO, Health Nuts Media. “If Health Nuts Media can get children excited about listening to the Big Bad Wolf talk about asthma, we have the opportunity to make a real impact on asthma, and help improve kids’ quality of life.”

In Huff & Puff: An Asthma Tale, the Big Bad Wolf huffs...and he puffs...and he has an asthma attack! Viewers follow “Big” on a journey of discovery as he learns about the chronic pulmonary condition and how to treat it. Dr. Barry Lachman, Medical Director at Parkland Community Health Plan, and well known for his landmark disease management programs in asthma, provided clinical oversight of the material.

During Asthma Awareness Month, Huff & Puff will be featured in awareness programs across the country, including the school education program, “Spreading the Word about Asthma,” by health literacy partner Learn360 (Learn360.com). This awareness program, designed to be a one-stop-shop for primary and secondary educators, also has contributions for the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

To reach local communities, Health Nuts Media will also be sharing Huff & Puff with organizations and events across the country, starting with a free asthma screening health fair on May 19, 2012 in Dallas, Texas. Organized by Dallas Area Interfaith (dallasareainterfaith.org) and Not One More Life (www.notonemorelife.org), the health fair will offer free asthma screenings for up to 200 local children. Each child will receive a free copy of Huff & Puff thanks to generous donations from Aetna and Parkland Community Health Plan.
